Lady Jan and the birthday date meme

I got this from Ann(Granny) who got this from DawnMarie who got it from Northbound.

You look up your birthday minus the year at Wikipedia then copy and paste on your blog the answers-- you post one event, and two births, and three deaths.

And here's mine!

One event--on May 16, 1918 - The Sedition Act is passed by the U.S. Congress, making criticism of the government a jailable offense. (if that was still true the jails would be bursting at the seams.)

Two births May 16, 1905 - Henry Fonda, American actor (d. 1982)
..................................1953 - Pierce Brosnan, Irish actor

Three deaths May 16, 1984 - Irwin Shaw, American author (b. 1913)
......................................1990 - Sammy Davis, Jr., American singer, actor, and comedian (b. 1925)
......................................1990 - Jim Henson, American puppeteer (b. 1936)
(These last two made me cry when they died back in 1990, and they just had to die on my birthday too. Then I went to church that Sunday and there was an announcement of the birth of someones little baby girl born right on my birthday. Then I felt much better.)

It's reassuring to know life goes on. Our pastor spoke briefly about that last Sunday when one person asked for prayers on the death of a loved one and another announced the birth of the latest grandchild.

amazing to think that Jim Henson has been gone that long... I totally grew up with Sesame Street, as did my kids...

Ernie and Kermit never did sound quite right after he died... :)))

enjoy the ham! I know we will... hee hee hee....

Hi Ann,

Yes I guess that was it, and I was just thrilled that a baby girl was born after those deaths on my birthdays. By the next year I was expecting my own child, so yes indeed life goes on, but some people can not be replaced just remember foundly forever.

Hi Ipodmomma,

No one not even his son that took over Creature Workshop from him can replace Jim Henson.

Right after his death the creators of Sesame street ask parents to please stop telling their children that Ernie died.

I guess after a period of morning they find a replacement, for Ernie and Kermet. But your right the voice isn't the same and how could it ever be again?

I'm looking forward to the ham on Sunday, though we have an invite so I maybe serving it at dinner time. Yum yum!

Later Your Lady Jan~

Morning Jan! Happy Easter!

I still miss Jim Hensen, too.

This is a personal quirk, but I'm finding your posts really hard to read in this font, particularly in the small size. Could you jack them up a size or two?

Happy Easter! And enjoy your cross stictching.

Hi Madcap,

Happy Easter to you too. Me too!

Oh I'm sorry about the font, I'll try and see what I can do with it.
