Highest winds in California in years

Some of the worst winds in years blasted through California overnight, sweeping through canyons, gusting up to 97 mph (156 kph), and toppling trees and trucks while knocking out power to hundreds of thousands of people.

We're lucky we didn't lose power or any trees. Just some limbs fell out of the trees in our yard.

Hi Janice...long time no see or visit...sorry.

I hate strong winds. You never know what damage they're going to cause. I'm glad all is well.

Hi Lee,

Glad to see you again. :) Well, your post anyway.

So true. We're lost tree here. When we first moved in we lost a big pine tree during a hard wind blowing storm and the following year another huge tree went down behind our house. Both times the tree fell away from the house.

We're very lucky.

That's always the worry...falling trees. A couple or so years ago one crashed across the road outside from my place and that gave me a bit of a fright. There's another large dead trunk in the spare allotment across the road - same area of the other one - and I know it'll come crashing down one of these days. I wish the owners of the land would do something about it.

Hi Lee,

Maybe those trees will be dealt with soon?

I keep praying that the other pine tree in front of our house stays put and doesn't fall. It's the twin to the one that fell many years ago.
