I have to admit I'm not a fan of Irish songs. Though I do like Tubthumping by Chumbawumba. They're Irish, so does that count?! LOL!

*hugs*

Hi Jennifer,

I'm glad you liked it. :)

Hi Darla,

Happy St. Patty's day to you too.

Hi Paige,

Lol, well barely.

Hi Alice,

I hope so, most are quite old and are part of our American culture.

Happy St. Patty's day everyone. Erin Go Bra.

My favorite is Minstrel Boy. I sang it in an Irish Pub while in college and made the owner cry. He didn't believe that American Irish remembered real Irish songs. :)

You do realize you're going to have a bunch of disgruntled posters who have silly songs stuck in their heads all day. lol Happy St Patty's Day!

I love several of the songs you listed. A friend of mine does a wonderful rendition of She Moved Thru the Fair. Thanks!

Hi Maddy,

Wow, and that's a very haunting song and lucky you having a friend who can sing it.

Happy St. Paddy's day.

The melancholy nature of so many Irish songs makes me evade them (in spite of my Irish background) as much as possible. Ironically, my husband adores Irish music and artists, and there's a huge Celtic subculture in my part of Italy.

Who'da thunk it, eh?

Janice Seagraves said...

Hi Cassie,

Thank you. Your so sweet.

Hi Kimberly,

You could still listen to the music sans lyrics. A lot of the Celtic Chieftains music have no words at all and I love to listen to them.

Oh, I didn't know that about Italy. Interesting.

Happy belated St. Paddy's day.

Hope you had a happy St. Patty's day and some green beer!

Hi Bratty,

I don't drink but the day was enjoyable. My daughter BF was here and I kept teasing him and my daughter that they were going to get pinched.

I didn't though, but they didn't know that.
