Ker-thunk! SSSSSSSS!

Where my husband works they're redoing the parking lot one section at a time. And one of the things that they are taking out is the old trees and bushes.
.
I drove into the parking lot to pick up my husband after work and we were going to go to Fresno to do a couple of things. But my heart almost froze in my chest when I heard . . . .
.
K-thunk! SSSSSSSSSSSSS!
.
I said, "Oh-no, I know what that sounds is."
.
Sure enough we had a tire going down. My husband took a look at the tire, and it had a piece of wood as big as my thumb sticking out of it.
.
All thoughts of a nice shopping trip went out the window as we prayed on the way to the tire shop that we'd make it without flatting the rim. We only stopped once and that was at a gas station to air up the tire before we continued on our way.
.
The tire was completely flat by the time we got to Shelter tire, but they were open and took us right away. Less than an hour later we had two new tires, and we were able to go on to Fresno.
.
We had to pick up a battery that my husband had ordered for his PDA, and we also bought a mattress for my long legged daughter who has out grown her twin sized bed.
.
I slept on a twin until I got married, but hey I'm only 5' 3 ½", and my sixteen year old daughter is 5' 6 ½" a whole three inches taller than me.
.
Her feet hang off the end of the mattress.
.
We found a reasonable deal on a good comfortable mattress, and they will be delivering it on Sunday.
.
My husband was actually surprised that I did the deal myself.
.
When we went in and we were told we would be paying for the delivery and the mattress frame for the mattress.
.
I said, "We'll be checking out his neighbor American Mattress."
.
And presto we ended up with free delivery and a free bed frame.
.
Better and better I thought, and I said, "We'll take it." And wrote the check.

Oh Janice I would have said a few choice words under my breath and then gone to find who was responsable for looking after the parking lot, and giving them a mouthful.. there is duty of care to the public..

LOL I totally love your bargaining skills! Sorry about your tires...that part sounded dreadful.

Hi Jeanette,

I didn't even think about that, and your right that parking lot should have been cleaned of any matter that might puncture a tire. I was just glad of getting it fixed, and it was an old tire one that need to be replaced anyway.

Hi Lauren,

Thanks, I didn't even think about it, and just said what popped into my head and we had a deal. It pays sometimes to by pass that part of you mind that says "don't say that."

Your lady Jan~

Dear Janice ~~ Sorry about the tyre -
another word spelt differently, but glad you were able to go and do your shopping. You did well with your bargaining. Well done.
Thank you for your comments and I had a great time, but am glad to be home again and I missed my blogging friends. Cousins are really nice, although I only have one brother and we get on really well, but live a long, long way from each other.
Take care my friend, Love, Merle.

Hi Janice, thanks for visiting. Sorry about your tyre - what a pest! And thank goodness you had delivery thrown in, it seems like that isn't too much to ask for!

Hi Kristen,

Thank you.

Hi Merle,

It seems it is--tire/tyre, hmm have to add that one to the list.

I'm glad you get along with your brother, I have both a brother and a sister and I wish I got along with them better than I do. But my cousins are easier to get along with and nicer, I found.

Welcome back to your blogging home. I missed you.

Hi Mum,

My husband had wanted to see if a friend or relative could help us bring the mattress home. I told him that we had done enough of that in the past and we could pay for the delivery if we had too.

Luck was with us that day in spite of how bad our luck was earlier, and I manage to get it thrown in for free. And that surprised me. Maybe it had been a slow sales day for the salesman?

The funny thing was my husband kept biting the inside of his lip saying to himself "don't say anything, don't say a word. Let Jan handle it she's doing a great!"

Take care all,
Lady Jan~
