This morning we got my daughter register for her senior year at high school, in spite of the fact that they forgot to send us her registration package.
Luckily they had extras and she just had to sign for it. I wrote fast and furious in the car filling it out for her, and handed it over so she could run it in and get her locater card and student ID for this year.
Done!
This is it! The last year (I hope).
Can you do me a favor and wish my little girl good luck with her Senior year at high school?

Thursday's Thirteen: Women

I'm not feeling too well, my daughter has a virus and her tonsil are infected and I think I maybe coming down with it too.
Well, the virus not the tonsil infection, lol, I haven't had tonsils since I was three.
SO here is a quick and dirty Thursdays thirteen.
1. A friend of mine confused her Valium with her birth control pills ...
she has 14 kids but doesn't really care
2. One of life's mysteries is how a 2-pound box of chocolates can make a
woman gain 5 lbs.
3. My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.
4. The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.
5. The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don't know
what you are doing, someone else does.
6. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then,
your body and your fat are really good friends.
7. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.
8. Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain
consciousness.
9. I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together
and setting fire to my knickers.
10. Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks
2 sizes!
11. Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like
...'You know sometimes I forget to eat!' Now I've forgotten my address, my
mother's maiden name and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat!
12. The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing
and then they marry him.
13. I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are
eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day!

Harvest season
It's harvest season once again, and this is the first year that my landlord is harvesting the almonds on the baby almond trees.
So I guess there not babies any more?
Last weekend at five in the am I heard; varoom, varoom, click-click-click, grr-rrr, varoom, varoom, click-click-click, grr-rrr.
It was the machine that attached to the trunk of the almond tree, and shook the bajesus out of the tree and all the nuts fell out.
They did it to each and every tree on our 80 acre parcel that we live on.
Oy vey.
Then yesterday, my husband came home about six thirty am. He gets into bed with me and whispers in my ear, "Their harvesting," and I hear; varoom, varoom, swish-swish-swish, varoom, varoom, swish-swish-swish, varoom, varoom, swish-swish-swish.
It was the machine that puts the nuts in neat line down the center of the rows, and the machine that picks them up.
Great.
We both tossed and turned.
Then my hubby said, "I can't sleep."
Me, "I can't either."
"Let's go to Fresno and I'll buy that MP3 player for you."
"Okay, just give enough time to take a quick shower."
"Alright, then I'll wake the daughter."
He grabbed up a pillow and threw it over his back like it was a bag. "Ooh, Sarah," he said going into her room, "time to wake up."
Whack, whack, whack.
I think my daughter got him real good.
Quick finish; we went and had a terrible meal out at Carl's jr. Went to Fresno and hubby bought me a Zen, and spent way too much on manga at Bounders for our daughter, bought anime at Best buy and then came home.
Then when we were about a mile or so from our house we saw this huge plume of smoke.
Guess what?
It wasn't smoke, it was the dust that the harvest machines were kicking up.
Today I went outside there is dust was every where, on the trees bushes, on everything in my garden, and my car is looks like it hasn't been driven in a year.
But the good news is they're done.
Phew!

Bahahaha!
My daughter got a job of sorts; she's going to show the high school farm goats at the Chowchilla fair. If she shows them to their best advantage and they sell for a good price she gets a pay check.
Now as we all know goats can be sweet, and funny.
And Goats can be cute and darling.
I believe they are called Brat and meanie, or maybe that was Brat I and Brat II?
I forget.
Boy does she have her hands full!
My daughter has to learn how to handle the goats and walk them around an arena. She has already got her toes stomped on and bruised, as well as having her legs getting hit with sharps little horns. But the worst was when one of the two goats that she is learning to handle kicked her in the chest with it's hind legs!!!
Ouch!
We went to Fresno today and got her outfitted for the fair; white jeans, and heavy duty boots(for the sharp little hooves).
We also got her some boys sneakers to wear while she brakes in the two brat goats to being handled.

My daughter's first job
No she doesn't have it yet, but she is looking for one.
She wants her own money and a regular pay check.
I told her if she didn't have summer school she could have a summer job. After all she'll be seventeen this year and getting a job is a big step toward independence.
Okay, maybe I should have been more specific. She got out of having summer school by doing so badly in one class that she is going to repeat it for next school year.
But a promise is a promise, and she already has put in a couple of job applications over the weekend, and she got her work permit application filled out and I've signed it. She just needs her boss (who ever that is) to sign it and then she is all set.
The only other thing I told her was that her job had to be between here and her school, that is walking or bike riding distance from home and school.
I also gave her an option of keeping her job if it didn't interfere with school work, because at this point in her life finishing high school is much more important than a job.
Tomorrow we will be looking at bicycles so she can get to the new job when she gets one.

My Daughter has a boyfriend
It's official my daughter has a boyfriend.
I told her many years ago when she was sixteen that she could date, and July 26th my daughter turned sixteen, and right on sequel a young man turned up.
He did the right thing; at the birthday party (for my daughter) he made it a point to get to know my husband and myself. We found out he love science fiction movies as well as Japanese anime, He also gave to my daughter two gift certificates for a movie at Edwards theater in Fresno.
Later my daughter asked me "do you think he wanted to go with me?" I told her "he probably did." But the problem was she had already made plans to go with another friend (girlfriend). She did called him to see of he'd like to come too, but he was out of town.
He called her as soon as he came back home and asked if she would like to go to the Simpson's movie, so they did go to that together with another set of friends. Double date, yea. I told her the way you can tell it's a date is when he pays.
My daughter ended up paying for everyone. Oh well at least it was the matinee.
Then for the next week it was the endless call that went on for hours, by the time I finaly got my phone line back so I could post on my blog, it was so late, and I was so tired myself I just went to bed.
I spoke to his mom and she was even confused too, were they a couple? Boyfriend girlfriend or what?
Then my daughter was invited to a meal out, and she got to met the parents and the grandparents, she told me it made her real nervous. I told her that would make anybody nervous.
But afterwards; she must has passed mustard because he asked her to be his girlfriend.
She said yes.
He has been a gentlemen this whole time, and I've gotten to know him as well his name is Chris he is Chinese, and I went to school with his father--small world eh?
Here's a cute story; when I was pregnant with Sarah I got a craving for Chinese food and my husband took me out to a new restaurant, it was ran by Chris's grandparents and his mom worked there too. I remember speaking to her and she said "oh your pregnant I just had a baby nine months ago," and of course that baby was Chris. Chris's dad came in later before we left and I got to say "hi" to him too.
But neither remember that happening, oh well.
