I've never been afraid of bugs. I used to play with the box my dad had behind the couch that had meal worm and black beetles (adult form of meal worms) that he used for fishing. He had them in a shoe box with saw dust and cut up potatoes to feed them. He also raised red worms and minnows.
I only call on my husband to kill a spider because he likes coming to my rescue (even though it's unnecessary).
Recently while doing some clean up in the yard, I disturbed millions of burgundy colored beetles with light colored legs that stunk like dirty feet. They were hiding behind some of my containers and under some left over fall leaves. There was so many of them that they made a noise just trying to get a way. I scooped as many of them as I could and dumped them in a big garbage can. One tried to get under my glove, but I got him.
For a while there I wished we still had out chickens, they would have had a feast.

Autumn whine
Where's Autumn?
It's suppose to be fall, right? But today we had temps of over a hundred, and it'll be around a hundred for the next week.
Hot, hot, hot! And my hot flashes are going nuts!
When will the cool get here?

But you can't go by us here in sunny California it was a hundred degrees today. Hot, hot and will be hot again tomorrow.
According to the forecasts we will have more fall like weather next week, with temps in the eighties

September first
The first of September.
This month we have Labor day (US) to look forward too, so that's a three day weekend for my daughter and maybe my hubby. If they let him off.
Then there is Fall back.
Yeah, I really look forward to daylight saving time. I just checked it not until November 1, so my clocks can wait. Woot!
The first day of Fall is this month, while I enjoy the cooler weather what I don't like is having to rake leaves.
And my sycamore trees are already dropping their leaves. Dang them!
